SDI Participates in Procurecon Facilities, Further Demonstrating That the Supply Chain Works Best When It All Works Together

In late January, over 150 procurement, facilities, and supply chain professionals met in Fort Lauderdale at the second annual ProcureCon Facilities event. With overarching themes of Building for the Future: Preparing for Disruption and Here and Now: Facilities Sourcing in Modern Times, the event helped industry leaders learn how to adapt to the latest innovations in facilities technologies and effectively gain stakeholder trust to manage change across organizations.

The two days of peer-led, interactive sessions included tours of the Citrix and DHL Headquarters facilities as examples of smart, collaborative work facilities. SDI was excited to participate as a lead sponsor. Most discussions at the SDI exhibit in the Solutions Zone, where solution providers met with practitioners to talk about streamlining and automating processes to realize business goals, focused on common Facilities Management challenges and how MRO data analytics can help provide insights to make the case for change.

Facility Challenges

The challenges in the facilities world run parallel to those in the Maintenance, Repair and Operations Supply Chain including:

1. A long tail of providers
2. High volume of low dollar transactions
3. Decentralized procurement with many diverse needs
4. Systems limitations
5. A substantial portion of spend not under contract

MRO Data Management

MRO Data Management typically includes data capture and cleansing, standardization and normalization, as well as data enrichment. Quality data then allows for deeper spend analytics and business intelligence that can help facilities management professionals better manage service schedules, which would lead to quality control and on-site management improvements.

MRO Data Analytics

MRO Data Analytics can also improve inventory optimization, reducing inventories while increasing service levels, which directly translates into scope rationalization for FM professionals. The ability to review and optimize service specifications, service level agreements and key performance indicators can help facilities managers address some of their most common challenges.

Considering facilities management as part of the MRO supply chain ecosystem, was definitely a key differentiator for SDI at the ProcureCon event. Attendees were interested in learning how supply and demand side management help improve wrench time and productivity, compliance and service reliability, reduce spend, and more strategically plan for the life of their assets. SDI at Work

Data standardization is part of Google’s new initiative to help people find relevant datasets.  With a recent study from Data Science Central, it’s estimated that data scientists spend 60% of their time preparing data for analysis, rather than performing the analysis itself.  Therefore, the goal of this schema is to drive standardization so that more time can be spent analyzing it.
