Industry’s Top Minds Come together to advance the digital supply chain at the Innovation Symposium on Industry 4.0, hosted at SDI

industry 4.0

At the precipice of the next industrial revolution, the supply chain is in the midst of a seismic shift from a focus purely on ensuring production reliability and delivery to customers, to:

  • Advanced planning processes
  • Robotic automation
  • Analytical demand planning or
  • Supply chain integration

The digitization of the supply chain is what will enable integrated operations and allow companies to leverage Industry 4.0.

Industry 4.0 creates disruption and requires companies to rethink the way they design their supply chain. Several technologies have emerged that are altering traditional ways of working. On top of this, megatrends and customer expectations change the game. Besides the need to adapt, supply chains also have the opportunity to reach the next horizon of operational effectiveness, to leverage emerging digital supply chain business models, and to transform the company into a digital supply chain. Success Story

It takes a progressive manager to push the organization to look at indirect spend and managing it in a different way - but once you see it, then you realize the opportunity.

SDI at Work

Data standardization is part of Google’s new initiative to help people find relevant datasets.  With a recent study from Data Science Central, it’s estimated that data scientists spend 60% of their time preparing data for analysis, rather than performing the analysis itself.  Therefore, the goal of this schema is to drive standardization so that more time can be spent analyzing it.
