The Client

One of the largest beverage and brewing companies in the world, they’ve been working with SDI since the mid 1990’s when they needed a partner to outsource the management of their MRO storerooms in facilities around their large brewery. They also wanted to outsource procurement activities. Goals included high inventory accuracy, excellent service levels for internal customers, and site-wide coverage of the program in all locations, with year-to-year savings from continuous improvement and other efficiency gains.

The SDI Solution

SDI provided storeroom operation services throughout the plant and managed all MRO services, including procurement, receiving, stocking, issuing and inventory management for more than 40,000 SKU’s. We managed these functions and combined existing onsite resources with our central operations team to deliver a complete solution.


Today SDI provides more than 60 on-site personnel who operate and manage storeroom services in ten storerooms. We manage all MRO procurement and transaction processing functions, with 24/7 support provided onsite in the storerooms as well as through our customer service team.

To date, the company has documented savings of 7%-10% annually through warranty, repair and engineering solutions. 

Service levels have exceeded goals, including order fill rates, on-time deliveries, inventory accuracy and dozens of other metrics tracked on a regular basis. We also eliminated nearly $8 million of obsolete inventory.

The program was so successful, it was expanded to seven other sites. We have delivered sustained value to this client for more than fifteen years and plan to be there for at least another fifteen.
