Introducing the Excellence in MRO Awards

Excellence in MRO

2017 is the inaugural year of the Excellence in MRO Awards, which aims to transform MRO from a cost of doing business to a strategic lever of competitiveness. The awards were also created to build and elevate a community of committed MRO professionals, who engage, share and learn from one another. The call for entries officially opens at the March 1st Innovation Symposium.

These awards are about pragmatic processes, grounded in real life experiences, that can be adapted to the needs of any organization. Each participant will receive a report comparing their responses to a benchmark group and to industry best practices. This read out will include implementable actions to improve MRO processes across the enterprise. In addition, entrants benefit from the exposure to a community of like-minded change agents for knowledge exchange between the judges, sponsors, and participants. The winners will be recognized as leading-edge MRO thought leaders in press releases, a published article with Supply Chain Management Review, social media recognition, and the opportunity to present at the Q4 Innovation Symposium this Fall.

The application will assess MRO as an integrated end-to-end process, taking into consideration the following areas:

  • Asset Management
  • Inventory Optimization
  • Procurement Processes &Technology
  • Data Management & Analytics
  • Supplier Evaluation & Management
  • Equipment Effectiveness & Uptime
  • Reliability & Maintainability Processes
  • End-to-End Integrated Management

SDI is a proud sponsor of the Excellence in MRO Awards. SDI at Work

In the third post in this series on MRO As-a-Service by Spend Matters, Pierre Mitchell and Michael Lamoureux talk about how managing MRO as a process delivers benefits from efficiency to effectiveness and beyond to an evolutionary phase. The next generation of value, MRO-as-a-Service, helps organizations build intelligent, agile, scalable and integrated supply chains (direct and indirect).

The project team has worked its way through Define, Measure, Analyze, and Improve. It’s time to begin the Control phase. The key stakeholders gather to evaluate the solution as implemented and create a plan to sustain the improvements. The goal is to standardize the improved processes, establish an audit schedule and schedule periodic follow-up to identify additional opportunities for improvement.
