Consumer Goods & Services

Consumer-oriented. Results-oriented.

Within SDI you’ll find industry professionals who specialize in the inner workings of the industries we serve. We understand your world, and how to apply Best-in-Class strategies and processes that make it work more efficiently – and more profitably.

The Consumer industries we serve include companies with large portfolios of locations, asset-intensive facilities, maintenance-intensive production lines, and a focus on uptime and reliability:

  • Automotive
  • Food & Beverage
  • Tobacco
  • Personal & Household Goods
  • Travel and Leisure
  • Media
  • Retail
  • Technology
    • Software and Computer Services
    • Technology Hardware & Equipment

SDI expertise applied in the real world.

Let’s say you’re rushing to get holiday specialty foods to the consumer ahead of schedule. If your production line fails for a second, Halloween candy doesn’t arrive by Halloween – a more connected MRO supply chain prevents that. Or since your automotive sales are cyclical, you need to strike while the steel and iron are hot. Parts availability and reliability will prevent your assembly line from running out of gas.

Success Story

Our former solution provider was not independent; they were a supplier of parts. It's not the best thing to have a supplier be your MRO outsourcing provider. With SDI, we have a truly independent sourcing agent looking after our best interests.

SDI at Work

In the third post in this series on MRO As-a-Service by Spend Matters, Pierre Mitchell and Michael Lamoureux talk about how managing MRO as a process delivers benefits from efficiency to effectiveness and beyond to an evolutionary phase. The next generation of value, MRO-as-a-Service, helps organizations build intelligent, agile, scalable and integrated supply chains (direct and indirect).

The project team has worked its way through Define, Measure, Analyze, and Improve. It’s time to begin the Control phase. The key stakeholders gather to evaluate the solution as implemented and create a plan to sustain the improvements. The goal is to standardize the improved processes, establish an audit schedule and schedule periodic follow-up to identify additional opportunities for improvement.
