The free seminar is sponsored by Project H.O.M.E. and will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., April 12.

“The objective of the seminar is to provide a better understanding of what it takes to be an IT professional – the skills needed to succeed, the training involved, and the education requirements,” said Marylou Fusco, employment specialist for Honickman Learning Center and Comcast Technology Labs.

Ron Fijalkowski, CIO of SDI, is one of several speakers scheduled to participate in the event. Other speakers include Kam Salisbury, network solutions manager for PNC Network Enterprise Services (Philadelphia), Carline Thomas, web designer for Design for Social Impact (Philadelphia), Richard Eliassen, help desk administrator for Project H.O.M.E., and Louis Huang, an A+ instructor for the

Honickman Learning Center and Mercy Vocational High School.

Fijalkowski has been recognized by Computerworld magazine as a Premier 100 IT Leader, and heads SDI’s IT department as it looks for ways to apply technology to streamline internal processes as well as enhance its services to its customers. Under Fijalkowski’s leadership, SDI established web-based consumer catalogs, enhanced the company’s ERP system, and added mobility applications that all streamline its customer’s supply chain processes.
